Korka Kassogue

Korka Kassogué is a young artist designer, actress, and photographer with a degree in dramatic arts from the National Institute of Arts and a bachelor’s in design from the Conservatoire des Arts et Métiers Multimédia Balla Fasséké Kouyaté.

Biography

Since childhood, due to her shy nature, Korka preferred creating objects rather than playing with other children. Encouraged by her mother to overcome her shyness, she joined the theater department at INA. However, she soon realized that her artistic expression was limited by the roles she played. In parallel, she began practicing photography, using self-portraits as a way to express herself through her own role. Later, she joined the design department at CAMM, returning to her first passion: object creation. She specializes in lighting design, using recycled plastic materials, which she repurposes and enhances, exploring the duality between shadow and light. Her work, rooted in eco-design, reflects both her personality and her personal journey, marked by a desire to emerge from darkness into light.Throughout her studies, she took part in several artistic workshops, including:
  • Workshops organized by Siif’Arts,
  • Exhibiting her creations at the 9th edition of the African Festival of Virtual Images (FAIVA), organized by the Centre Soleil d’Afrique,
  • Participation in the Ségou’Art festival in 2019.
To further her expertise in design, Korka attended a workshop led by renowned designer Cheick Diallo in 2019. She became his assistant, contributing to:
  • the scenography of the 12th edition of the Bamako Encounters – African Biennale of Photography (2019),
  • the installation of the Bamako Art Gallery pavilion at the Ségou’Art festival (2021).
Committed to passing on her knowledge, Korka led an eco-design workshop for women in Siby, as part of the Bogo Ja festival, continuing her work on recycling plastic waste into artistic creations. To showcase her work, Korka has participated in numerous group exhibitions, including:
  • Galerie Médina – Pacte Mali Project (2021),
  • Festival sur le Niger – Ségou’Art / IN (2019, Centre Soleil d’Afrique, theme "Polyphony"),
  • OFF exhibition at Dak’Art (2022) – Mali Bugu Project,
  • Festival Art Femmes (F’Art) in Cameroon (2022, 1st edition),
  • International Women's Day Exhibition at Bamako Art Gallery (2022).
Korka Kassogué stands out as a committed and innovative artist, whose work combines creativity, sustainability, and deep reflections on light and identity.
